Questions
Is Alight free?
Yes. Alight is free and supported by non-intrusive ads. Ads never appear on the active-journey screen. A brief ad may show when initiating a journey.
Do I need internet?
Only to initially download or update station data, and to load map tiles. The journey itself, from departure to arrival reminder, works completely offline.
Why does Alight ask for background location permission?
So the reminder can trigger while your screen is off in your pocket. Alight only queries GPS while a user-started journey is active, with an ongoing notification. Tracking terminates upon arrival.
Does Alight send my location anywhere?
No. Your coordinates are processed entirely on-device and are never uploaded to any server or shared with advertisers.
Will it drain my battery?
Alight engages GPS strictly while a journey runs and stops immediately upon reaching your station. The app includes vendor-specific background optimization tips.
Is there an iOS version?
Not currently. Alight is focused on Android.
Does it work for MRT, LRT, or TransJakarta?
Alight is built specifically for KRL Commuter Line Jabodetabek today.
Is the reminder guaranteed?
Alight is an assistive reminder, not a safety-critical system. Heavy signal loss, device battery savers, and underground tunnels may affect GPS accuracy. Keep an eye on your journey.
